Job Description

Position Summary:

The Head of HR, IR & Administrative Services will lead and manage all aspects of Human Resources, Industrial Relations, and Administrative Services for a manufacturing facility with a unionized workforce. This role requires a strategic leader to ensure the alignment of HR policies with business goals, while managing the relationship between the company and its employees, including union representatives. The Head of HR, IR & Administrative Services will be responsible for Talent Acquisition, Training & Development, Employee Engagement, Industrial Relations, Legal compliance, Conflict resolution, and Administrative operations in the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic HR Leadership:
    • Develop and implement HR/IR strategies aligned with the company s business objectives.
    • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning to ensure the plant has the required talent.
    • Drive employee development programs to enhance skills, productivity, and engagement.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to HR team members to ensure effective execution of HR policies.
  2. Labor and Industrial Relations:
    • Lead negotiations for Long term settlements, and other agreements in collaboration with management and union leadership.
    • Manage labor relations with union representatives and ensure adherence to Long term settlement and other collective bargaining agreements.
    • Resolve any labor disputes or grievances promptly and efficiently, ensuring fair and consistent application of the company s policies and labor agreements.
    • Maintain strong relationships with union representatives to foster a collaborative work environment.
  3. Employee Engagement & Organizational Development:
    • Drive initiatives to improve employee morale, retention, and overall engagement.
    • Implement effective performance management systems to ensure alignment with organizational goals and employee development.
    • Facilitate effective communication channels between employees, union, and management.
  4. Compliance & Legal Affairs:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and other statutory requirements.
    • Manage and oversee the handling of employee complaints, disputes, and legal issues relating to employment and Union.
    • Stay updated on changes in labor legislation and adjust internal policies accordingly.
  5. Compensation & Benefits:
    • Oversee compensation & benefits implementation as per company policies.
    • Monitor union negotiations to ensure alignment with compensation and benefits policies.
  6. Administrative Services:
    • Oversee the day-to-day administrative functions of the manufacturing plant.
    • Ensure smooth operations related to Car hiring, Hotel booking, Japanese Guest house and VIP visits.
    • Develop and enforce plant-wide administrative procedures to ensure efficiency, compliance, and consistency in operations.
  7. Budgeting & Reporting:
    • Manage the HR and Administrative services budget and ensure cost-effective operations.
    • Provide timely and accurate reports on HR metrics, industrial relations issues, and administrative performance to senior management.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in human resources, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment with a unionized workforce.
    • Proven experience in handling union negotiations, industrial relations, and labor disputes.
    • Strong understanding of employment law and labor regulations.
    • Experience in developing HR strategies aligned with business goals in a manufacturing context.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and people management skills.
    • Influencing and Motivational Skills
    • Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
    • Sound understanding of labor law and HR best practices.
    • Analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
    • Experience in managing a diverse workforce and maintaining harmonious labor relations.
