Senior System Administrator _ US Shift

The Senior System Administrator will collaborate with the IT Manager to effectively

manage the IT systems and infrastructure. This role involves managing processes and

utilizing technology to monitor system performance, provide technical support, and

ensure the stability and availability of the organizations IT infrastructure. The System

Administrator will ensure adherence to high standards of system performance and

reliability, handling regular maintenance for both external and internal environments.

The ideal System Administrator should possess a positive attitude, embrace change,

excel as a team player, be organized, and have a solid background in IT systems

administration and support.

As an integral part of the Infrastructure team, the desired candidate will have the

following responsibilities:

Project Collaboration:

• Collaborate with clients or project managers to implement tailored IT solutions.
• Adjust security settings for enterprise firewalls to meet specific client or project requirements.

IT Support & Solution Delivery:

• Apply best practices and technical skills to deliver customized solutions.
• Work closely with the development team on client projects, ensuring smooth

integration and deployment.

Network Infrastructure Management:

• Support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.
• Manage inventory, workstations, software, and phone systems.
• Configure and maintain network equipment such as switches, routers, VLANs,

and wireless access points.

• Ensure efficient operation of systems and network infrastructure, including

IPV4/IPV6 protocols.

System Efficiency and Troubleshooting:

• Ensure system efficiency and performance by monitoring system health and

responding to user-reported issues.

• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network problems.
• Recommend and implement upgrades and improvements to maintain system

reliability.

Security and Compliance:

• Maintain network and system security by applying security best practices and

monitoring for potential vulnerabilities.

• Adjust and enforce security policies to protect sensitive data and systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.

Cloud and Infrastructure Management:

• Manage cloud infrastructure, primarily using AWS services such as EC2, S3,

RDS, and IAM.

• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code using tools like CloudFormation or

Terraform.

• Optimize cloud resources for cost efficiency and performance.

Monitoring and Performance Management:

• Implement and manage monitoring solutions to track system and network

performance.

• Use tools like Nagios, Prometheus, and CloudWatch to monitor system health

and generate alerts.

• Analyze performance metrics and suggest optimizations.

Patching and System Updates:

• Regularly apply patches and updates to operating systems, applications, and

other software.

• Develop a patch management schedule to minimize disruptions and ensure

systems are secure.

User and Access Management:

• Handle onboarding and offboarding processes, including setting up and

deactivating user accounts.

• Manage user permissions and access controls to ensure data security and

compliance.

Backup and Disaster Recovery:

• Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery plans.
• Ensure critical systems and data are regularly backed up and can be restored in

the event of a failure.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, network diagrams,

and standard operating procedures.

• Prepare reports on system performance, security status, and compliance.

Technical Support and Training:

• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and team members.
• Conduct training sessions on new technologies, systems, and security practices.

Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

2. 5+ years of experience in system administration, with proficiency in Linux, MS

Windows, and Apple Mac environments.

3. Experience in network management: LAN/WAN, switches/routers/ firewalls.

4. Strong background in IT security and compliance standards.

5. Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage teams.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Masters in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

2. 7+ years of experience in system administration and IT security.

3. Experience with Splunk, AWS, iptables, openvas, syslog, and Puppet.

4. Advanced knowledge of Python and/or BASH.

5. Familiarity with Jira/Confluence, Jump Cloud, MFA platforms, and Web APIs.

6. Experience with Windows Server management (Active Directory/Group Policy).

7. Identifying, optimizing, and automating recurring departmental processes.

8. Security certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Network+ / Security+, and

PCI Security Standards Council certifications.

9. Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft

Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or similar.

10. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Experience with similar requirements (such as HIPPA, CIS Controls) is

advantageous.
