Job Description
1. Own delivery of underwriting KPIs (Speed, Accuracy and Customer experience) for Life and Health LOB (Line of business)
- Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve organizational goals and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
- Collaborate with senior management to align underwriting practices with business objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the creation and refinement of underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.
2. Should be well versed with process documentation and identification of gaps in the process to fix, to be able to independently drive such initiatives from ideation to execution
- Lead a team of underwriters, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration.
- Monitor underwriting performance and establish metrics to assess profitability, risk exposure, and efficiency.
- Ensure effective risk assessment practices across all life insurance products.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to inform underwriting practices.
3. Develop and Lead the UW team, developing the culture of ownership and cohesiveness
- Recruit, train, and mentor underwriting staff to build a high-performing team.
- Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to enhance technical expertise and decision-making capabilities.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.
4. Liaise with external stakeholders including reinsurance representatives to drive organizational objectives
- Work closely with actuarial, product development, and marketing teams to evaluate and launch new products.
- Assess the risks and opportunities associated with innovative insurance solutions.
- Ensure underwriting practices comply with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Conduct regular audits to maintain high levels of accuracy and adherence to guidelines.
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and reinsurers to manage complex cases and maintain strong relationships.
- Represent the underwriting function in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
