Job Description for SME role in Linde Engagement Scope 

The scope of this engagement entails the provision of a specialized technical consulting service to Lindes Data and Business teams through ACI’s dedicated Subject Matter Expert (SME). 

The SME will be dedicated to Linde’s Tableau to MS Power BI Dashboard Lift and Shift initiative, providing strategic advisory and consulting support to existing Linde BI team across business units and geographies. 

Below are the in-scope activities that SME will conduct. 

• Advisory Services:  The SME will provide technical consulting and advisory support to the existing Linde’s Lift and Shift Project team 
• Training:  The SME will deliver on-demand training workshops to Linde's project team on relevant to the Lift and Shift Project 
• Troubleshooting:  The SME will be available to provide troubleshooting support to the Linde team during the migration process, addressing issues related to report conversion, data discrepancies, and Power BI functionality 
• Knowledge Transfer:  The SME will document key learnings, best practices, and resolution recommended during the project to facilitate knowledge transfer to the Linde team. 
• Regular Communication: The SME will participate in project team cadences as well in accordance with the communication plan which will be agreed upon.

Essential for analyzing existing dashboards and identifying conversion challenges. 

Tableau Server (Administration & Publishing) 4 Medium Understanding of Tableau Server for troubleshooting and potential data source migration considerations. 

Power BI Desktop (Expert) 5 High Mastery of Power BI Desktop, including data modeling (DAX), report design, Skill Category Specific Skill Proficiency Level (1-5, 5 being Expert) Relevance to Scope Notes/Details visualizations, and performance optimization. 

Power BI Service (Administration & Deployment) 4 High Understanding of Power BI Service for publishing, sharing, and managing reports. 

Essential for guiding the Linde team on best practices. 

Data Modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) 4 High Ability to design and optimize data models in Power BI to match or improve upon existing Tableau data structures. 

DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) 5 High Essential for recreating Tableau calculated fields and logic in Power BI. 

Data Source Connectivity (SQL, Excel, Cloud Sources) 4 Medium Ability to connect to various data sources used by Linde and troubleshoot connectivity issues during migration. Report Performance Optimization 4 High Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in Power BI reports. 

Migration & Conversion Tableau to Power BI Migration Tools/Techniques 4 High Knowledge of best practices and tools for migrating Tableau dashboards to Power BI. 

Identifying and Resolving Data Discrepancies 5 High Ability to analyze data differences between Tableau and Power BI and implement solutions to ensure consistency. 

Report Conversion Planning & Execution 4 High Ability to develop and execute a migration plan, including prioritizing reports and managing dependencies. 

Understanding of Feature Parity/Differences 5 High Deep knowledge of the differences between Tableau and Power BI features, and how to address them during migration.

Cloud Platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP - if applicable) 2 Low If Linde utilizes cloud based data sources, basic understanding is helpful. 

Version Control (Git) 2 Low Helpful if Linde utilizes version control for Power BI reports.

• Emphasis on Power BI Expertise: The core of the role is Power BI proficiency, particularly in data modeling, DAX, and report development. 
• Migration Experience: Experience with Tableau to Power BI migrations is highly valuable. 
• Communication and Training Skills: The SME needs to be an effective communicator and trainer. 
• Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: The ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues is crucial.
