Junior Coder Emergency Department

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assign ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifier as appropriate and abstract pertinent information from patient records.
• Experience in researching and applying coding rules and regulations.
• Ensures optimal reimbursement of all cases in compliance with CMS policies and regulations and adhere to Official coding guidelines.
• Implements Physician query process when medical records is inadequate, ambiguous or unclear to assign codes.
• Work as part of a team and achieve the quality and production per process standards.
• Observes and reports unusual patterns in clinical documentation at a facility and Physician specific levels.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Life Science graduates or BDS, BHAMS, BPT, BPharm/ MPharm
• Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, Human anatomy, and physiology
• AAPC or AHIMA certified medical coder
• Minimum of 2 yrs. experience of ED Professional. Experience in ED Facility, EM IP or OP coding is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Apps like Outlook, Teams, Excel, word etc.
• Must be self-motivated, responsive and committed to communicate with supervisors
• Have a positive and respectful attitude.
