STP is a wastewater treatment plant that uses physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove pollutants from sewage.

STP receives sewage from households and industries through a network of underground pipes.
The sewage is screened to remove large objects and then sent to a grit chamber to remove sand and grit.
The sewage is then sent to a primary clarifier where solids settle to the bottom and are removed as sludge.
The remaining liquid is sent to an aeration tank where microorganisms break down organic matter.
The treated water is then sent to a secondary clarifier where any remaining solids settle to the bottom and are removed as sludge.
The final effluent is disinfected and discharged into a water body or reused for irrigation or industrial purposes.
STP may also include additional treatment processes such as tertiary filtration, nutrient removal, and sludge treatment and disposal.
