There are different types of flanges like:-

Threaded flanges, which are used in utility services like air and water.
Socket weld flanges, which is used in small bore pipes usually piping with low pressure and temperature.
Slip on flanges, which is also used for low pressure and temperature.
Lap joint flanges,it is used for large pipe and where we have to dismantle or rotate pipe frequently as it provide connection rotate freely.
Weld neck flanges,it is used in high pressure and temperature application. It is for all sizes. It is costly and bulky with compare to other flanges.
Blind flanges,it is generally a disk to stop a circulation or to isolate a piping system.
