Interview Preparation Tips

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - Third-class company. My first round was an HR interview which was organized by the consultant. The HR guy was a courteous guy who asked several relevant questions.

A week later I was called for a personal interview and met the Head of Marketing and Technology.

Their office is good but leaving aside the HR guy with whom I had the first round of interaction the rest of the people are just garbage.

The guy who is the GM of Marketing and Technology spoke to me for 30 minutes. The sober HR guy was just a mute spectator during our conversation. The GM doesn't even know to construct a single sentence with proper Grammar but he heads the Marketing and Technology division. God bless Soujanya.

I know it sounds like a comedy of terror but it is the truth.

His first question was - what is your opinion or expert view on prominent brands and logo designing? For a B2b company, how is this even remotely relevant to what other companies are doing?

Then the conversation came around the Tata Motors logo.

Well now here things got a bit ugly or rather a bit funny. Soujanya's tagline or positioning statement is "adding life to color."

When I told this GM guy that factually and even grammatically it doesn't sound right. Soujanya isn't dealing with one color but with a vast plethora of colors and hence it should be plural. But this not so gentleman who tried to dominate me with his half-baked knowledge of branding started giving me a gyaan.

He drew some illogical parallels with the word 'mankind.' According to him the word mankind has many people but it's always spelled in singular and so is color because the word color is a noun in this context. 😂

I didn't intend to humiliate him in front of his HR manager but I'm surprised to see such illiterate people working for Soujanya. He is an engineer and so it's evident that his marketing and branding knowledge won't be up to the mark but he tries to be over-smart and make a mockery of himself. So funny. 😂

When he couldn't convince me with his illogical ideas he started asking me personal questions like - at 40 why are you not married? Seriously GM dude. I can see that you have pursued some courses from IIM A but is this your standard? After meeting you I am going to question IIM A and its selection procedures. Of course, donkeys can't be a part of IIM A. 🤭

Besides Soujanya calls itself No. 2 in the world. I am surprised by their tall claims. Has any trade body adjourned you as no. 2 in the world? It is all self-proclaimed, right?

The world's no. 2 company doesn't even have a case study written to date let alone solve complex business challenges to earn a competitive advantage. If such illiterate people are sitting at the helm of marketing and branding then I sincerely hope the almighty God blesses Soujanya.

Come on management of Soujanya. At least don't put forth such blatant lies about being no. 2 in the world. The standard of your employees especially the GM of Marketing and Technology portrays the reality of what your company truly is. He reminds me of the erstwhile Bihar CM who didn't know a thing about English but always made an attempt to speak like Oxford graduates. Your GM of Marketing and Technology is just that. Super funny. 😂🤭
