  • Q4. Basis of ic engine
  • Q5. Lmtd equation with derivation
  • Ans.

The LMTD equation is used to calculate the temperature difference in heat exchangers.

    • LMTD stands for Logarithmic Mean Temperature Difference.

    • It is used to calculate the heat transfer rate in heat exchangers.

    • The equation is: LMTD = (ΔT1 - ΔT2) / ln(ΔT1 / ΔT2)

    • ΔT1 and ΔT2 are the temperature differences between the hot and cold fluids at the inlet and outlet.

    • The LMTD equation assumes that the heat transfer coefficient is ...

  • Q6. Effectiveness equation in heat exchanger
  • Ans.

The effectiveness equation in heat exchanger determines the efficiency of heat transfer.

    • The effectiveness equation compares the actual heat transfer rate to the maximum possible heat transfer rate.

    • It takes into account the inlet and outlet temperatures of both fluids and the heat capacity rates.

    • The equation is commonly used in designing and optimizing heat exchangers.

    • An example of the effectiveness equation is Q/Qmax =...

  • Q7. Venturi orrifice equation
  • Ans.

The Venturi orifice equation is used to calculate the flow rate of a fluid through a pipe.

    • It relates the pressure difference between two points in a pipe to the flow rate of the fluid.

    • It is commonly used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, and water treatment.

    • The equation takes into account the diameter of the pipe, the density of the fluid, and the pressure difference.

    • It can be used to determine the efficienc...

  • Q8. Cavitations in pump
  • Ans.

Cavitations in pump is a phenomenon where air bubbles form in the liquid due to low pressure, causing damage to the pump.

    • Occurs when the pressure in the pump drops below the vapor pressure of the liquid

    • Can cause erosion, noise, and vibration in the pump

    • Can be prevented by ensuring proper suction pressure and avoiding high-speed operation

    • Examples include water pumps, fuel pumps, and hydraulic pumps

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Test consist of 50 questions out of this 40 are technical and 10 are aptitude. In technical 7-8 questions are calculative type . important subject is fluid power, heat transfer and machine design .1-2 questions from material science and manufacturing .also ic engine is important. Questions are
4 questions from series and parallel pump
4 questions from heat exchanger
2-3 questions from basic of thermodynamic
4 questions from pressure vessels
3-4 questions from solid shaft and hollow shaft
4 questions from 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine which is very basic
2 questions from conduction
5 questions from machine design which totally equation based so prepare all theory of failures and basic of all stress.
Prepared all above topics to crack written test. Aptitude was quite difficult so do first aptitude and than go for a technical.
Tips: Prepare all above topics so you will definitely crack written test .test is very easy so basic of all this topic is required.and also they are not changing their paper so you can contact your senior or other college friends in which linde has visited or even you can get questions from Google
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 50

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Pi of linde is one of the most difficult pie in my college .they even ask you derivation of equation.. They ask me above questions . in starting they ask me my introduction and than he gave me one isometric drawing and I have to prepare all three views of this drawing.than some questions from training and final year project. There main criteria for selection is only technical knowledge. Intervier was very frank and he motive us to get more and good answer
Tips: To crack pi of linde prepare 2-3 subject like fluide power, heat exchanger, thermodynamic, icengine, prepare in such a way That you are capable to do each and every thing of subject.prepare in such a way that if you give university exam than you should get 90 percentage, than and than you will select. Do training and project in such a way That it can be co-related by job profile of linde for example my do project on heat exchanger, pumps, design of machine element etc.

General Tips: Prepare basic of topics which are described above.and prepare only 1-2 technical subject for pi.but do preparation in such a way That you know each and every thing of subject they even ask you to derive equation. Select project in such a way that it will be helpful in your pi. Use your contact in other colleges for getting some questions in written test, because they are not changing their paper it will be beneficial to you to crack written test.
Skills: Confidence, Ability To Convince, Technical Skill

College Name: IIT Madras

I applied via Campus Placement and was interviewed in Dec 2016. There were 4 interview rounds.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: There were totally 8 sections to the test. But they could be broadly put under 4 categories. Firstly all questions were compulsory to attempt and there was no negative marking. Aptitude: Basic quantitative math questions were asked. There was one simple programming question where one could code in C/Java in your local IDE and upload the code file. It was a DO or DIE question, either you get the question and proceed to the next questions of the test or the test gets stopped if the code is not successfully compiled within 5 attempts. This programming question, as was told was an important criteria to filter out candidates for the next round. There was a descriptive question asking about a recent team project done.
Tips: Achievements in sports and other extra curricular activities are valued. Mention them in the resume, if applicable.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: In this round, they look for the candidate's experience in coding in whatever language mentioned in the resume - I was asked to write some simple codes in c. I was also asked to explain some projects from the resume.
Tips: basic knowledge of data structures, resume preparation

Round: Technical + HR Interview
Experience: In this round, the questions were mostly based on the resume and the projects done. Also, HR questions like What do you know about Schlumberger, How do you perform in a team, What makes you unique from the other candidates etc. were asked. They also ask if you have any questions from your side - Better to ask questions if you have one or if you can't think upon any specific question, ask them a doubt from whatever they have said(usually they say a lot about their company and principles before they ask you for questions)
Tips: Prepare for a HR interview separately, resume preparation
