Why do you think you can reach out to whomever you like at Amazon and why is that necessarily a good thing? Doesn't that mean you're incapable to do your job that you need to reach out to other people? (The interviewer seemed more hooked onto me spewing nonsense about Amazon than there ever was for me to and he wouldn't be satisfied until I spewing nonsense, which I promptly chose to not entertain.)
