Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: I had got short-listed in Credit-Suisse, ITC, Citi Bank, EXL, Housing.com and many more later day companies.
Tips: Tailor your resumes depending on the companies.

Round: Test
Experience: Most of the aptitude test are very simple but you would need to prepare seriously for the technical tests. Mostly only core companies will have the technical tests.
Tips: CAT prep will come in handy.

Round: Group Discussion
Tips: Form groups among your friends and practice. It's very important. Do not try to dominate and undermine the participants during the discussion.

Skill Tips: Practice. Have one example from your life where you have demonstrated each of the various qualities.
Skills: Communication, Logical deductions , Leadership skills, Stress handling, Taking initiatives, puzzles
College Name: IIT Madras

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was an easy exam(The UL one). Basic quant questions were asked. But easy exams are tricky ones. You cannot afford to make mistakes. So speed and accuracy were expected.
Tips: There are lot of companies that short list based on aptitude test. Most of them short lists around 40-50 people for the next round. So CAT preparation(or the likes of CAT,GRE etc) is a MUST even if you are not actually giving CAT. Speed and Accuracy is required. Practice infinite. Only then you can make it to the short list.
Duration: 30 minutes
Total Questions: 20

Round: HR ROUND
Experience: HR round was a happy round. I had to talk about me, which is easy if you are well aware of who you are and what you want. I was fortunate, I was asked an easy puzzle midway.
Tips: Self Introspection. Self Introspection. Self Introspection.

If you do that, you'll come up with a wonderful resume, super strong confidence and a cool interview.

Round: TECHNICAL ROUND
Experience: It was a 40 minute interview. This interview had a bit untidy start. It took time for me to handle the first question, where I had to increase the sales of sofas in a given time. But I took my time, jotted down my thoughts and never stopped again. So, stay cool throughout and it helps. I could do well in all 3 questions.

1. How do we increase Sales of Sofa over next 3 months?

2. Give me a strategy for a vab service to be launched in Chennai?

3. As a Consultant, Suggest revenue generation avenues for a Multiplex in loss.
Tips: Remember, case interviews doesn't have answers/solutions. The way you deal with the given problem(thought process) is looked at, rather than the final solution. One has to discuss his way with the interviewer, demand data from him and talk relevant stuff with confidence.

General Tips: Everything that you have ever done in your life matters. Grab something from whatever you do. Everything not only includes good CGPA, PORs, Extra Curriculars, but also the things that you always wanted to pursue.

Placements are like any other course, if you really want to thulp them, then target, plan and execute.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: I had really good points in my resume. I had done few courses related to data analysis, projects (my DD project was related to data analysis), PORs.
I prepared my resume points very thoroughly. I wrote about each point and then discussed with my friends and took their opinion about that.
Tips: Its better to review your review by atleast 5-8 people. so that you can make relevant changes. I think, it's good to highlight the end result of any project or intern.
Try to connect ur resume point to the skills required for the company.

Round: Interview
Experience: These two questions were asked in two different case interviews. My overall experience was good. In first one, I had good approach because I had done one project in which I followed the similar approach (how the whole institute can be categorized and how to calculate the number of ppl according different sections- students, profs, employees, workers etc)
As the second case, i felt was tough because how mess work in our college is different from any other private canteen. So for that you had to ask many questions.
Tips: In the case interviews, interviewer just check for approach but they expect you to reach at conclusion also. As you start solving the case, you can ask for extra information during solving it.

Round: Test
Experience: Most of the companies will have 60 questions in 60 mins. most of the companies (analytics profile)1/3 of portion will be verbal. My overall experience with tests was not good.
Tips: I felt, the time was less. It's good to prepare for CAT, so that you don't have to prepare separately for aptitude which i did mistake.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 60

Round: Interview
Experience: These all questions were asked in third round of interview. I had very strong reason to choose business analyst profile and the company because my courses and projects showed my interest in this field.
Tips: I think, it's good to be honest and answer the HR questions. even I gave myself 9/10 points for analytical skills.
even if you haven't done any work related to this field but you show interest and have good analytical skills, then also any company will select you.
It's good to have overall idea of how any business works in the given sector which can help you in asking relevant question when they ask if you have any question for them. Good question which shows ur depth of understanding of industry, gives really good impression on interviewer.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: This company didn't have group discussion. This was my first company and i got into it.
Tips: I practised many GDs with my friends and i attended soft skill workshop by tvs. The workshop was not helpful. The mock GDs and interviews which were organised by alumni associations were really helpful. They give feedback also.

One can google out the GD topics and practice with wing mates.

General Tips: Try to be optimistic during interview in any context.
Skills: Analytical skills, communication skills
College Name: IIT MADRAS
Motivation: I applied for almost all companies expect coding profile but i wanted analyst profile and luckily i got it.
I like mathematics and this was the field where i can pursue my interest.
Funny Moments: My name is difficult to pronounce. So my very first question was, 'how to pronounce it and meaning of it'.
Another funny moment when i forgot the name of scholarship because i was so nervous.
