OSI stands for Open Systems Interconnection.
It has 7 layers, each with a specific function.
The layers are: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application.
Each layer communicates with the layer above and below it.
Example: HTTP (Application layer) uses TCP (Transport layer) to establish a connection and transfer data.
Example: Ethernet (Data Link layer) uses MAC addresses to identify devices on a network.
Example: IP (Network layer) is responsible for routing packets between networks.
Example: FTP (Application layer) uses TCP (Transport layer) to transfer files.
Example: DNS (Application layer) uses UDP (Transport layer) to resolve domain names to IP addresses.
