Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Resume got selected because I have CGPA > 6.5,which was their criteria for shortlisting the candidates.

Round: Test
Experience: Technical round in which Technical questions were asked.(40-50 min)
HR round in which Non technical questions were asked.(15-20 min)
Duration: 50-60 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: In this round, they particularly tested communications skills, technical knowledge, our interest.

General Tips: I got selected because of my 3D modelling Software skills, All my intern projects and DDP project were related to product design and involves 3D modelling and prototyping. Experience in designing a new product. Communication skills and finally the interest which I showed when they asked if I have any Questions.
If you want core job, you can sit for mech companies .This time most of the Companies were IT based. So you should atleast know C,C++ compulsory to get shortlist in the tests. As I was interested in Core, I didn't concentrate much on Non-core. But don't neglect any, as we don't know where we get placed. Unless you have a CG>7 or 7.5 atleast it is difficult even to get shortlist for the test of core companies.
Skill Tips: 1. CGPA - Not really imp to get a job but it is imp to get placed soon (of course need not be true every time) and to get shortlisted if the selection procedure is based on resume).
2. Aptitude (It is the most important one, unless you are shortlisted in aptitude test, you will not have chance to go for interview. It is the first challenge you will face in selection procedure for most of the
companies).

3. Resume (you have to be very good at explaining and giving reasons for what ever they ask in
your resume and also about projects. Since we will not have much non core projects, if you are interested
in non core jobs you can write even a simple assignment you did in management or any related non core
courses as projects in a very good manner. Sometimes it will be helpful to get shortlisted even if you don't
have much CGPA)

4. Basic Technical knowledge (need not study in depth each and every subject. Just basics are
enough- try to search on net for objective type or two mark questions for core subjects in Internet. You will
get a good idea about what to study and what you have to concentrate on. Don't waste time on one
subject in a bid to master it. Not required .!!)
Skills: Case Studies, Puzzels, CGPA, Aptitude, Resume, Basic Technical knowledge, 3D Modelling Software Skills, Communication Skills
College Name: IIT MADRAS
Motivation: This company was not open for ED, it was only for Mech and Aero and also it didn't allow us at the time of test.
Funny Moments: They were so strict about CG and the branch. Only two of us from our batch had attempted without telling them. Surprisingly, I was called for the interview the next day :) )

Experience: In this round, they particularly tested communications skills, technical knowledge and our interest.

Round: Interview
Experience: The questions in this round were very general.

General Tips: Prepare the question “Tell me about yourself” especially as it is the first question every company asks you when you go for interview. They will get their first impression on you here and the interview will move forward based on your answer.

Placement Preparation:
1. CGPA: It's not really important to get a job but it helps in getting placed soon and to get shortlisted if the selection procedure is based on resume.

2. Aptitude: It is the most important one, unless you are shortlisted in aptitude test, you will not have chance to go for interview. It is the first challenge you will face in selection procedure for most of the companies.

You will have principle of economics in 9th sem. It is very very important course for non core. Apart from courses prepare puzzles, case studies. Unless you are 8 pointer, you will not have a chance of getting placed in core companies for the first ten days. If you have 7 you can try for non core in the first 10 days. If you want core job, you can sit for mechanical companies too after 15th like that. This time most of the companies were IT based. So you should at least know C, C++ compulsory to get shortlist in the tests.
Skill Tips: All my intern projects and DDP project were related to product design and involved 3D modelling and prototyping. Apart from the skills mentioned, my experience in designing a new product and the interest I showed when they asked if I have any questions were also paramount selection points.
Ideal time to prepare should be 3-4 months before placement.
