1 Interview Round

Interview Questions

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: HR Interview
Experience: I had previously done a field internship in Schlumberger so it helped with answers.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: A questionnaire was given. The HR went through the questionnaire and kept commenting and asking for a few reasonsof the answers. He was basically confirming whether to select you, after the HR of the 1st round told him how I was.

General Tips: (Pretty good team this year compared to his year(he was placement coord too), Good that it was in same hostel.) DB didn’t come. I sat for 3 company interviews. 2nd company knew that I had attended the first company’s interview so they didn’t take me seriously. So make sure you send people to interviews according to their preference. Last year, only one mock test was conducted (Momentumtransfer) for core subjects. These should have been more core tests. I also suggest, keep a presentation in the even sem for internships because companies start coming early in August.
Skill Tips: Focus on your Study.. Revise the subject that you have studied at the time of Interview

4 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Tips: You should be familiar with OOP concepts and a few concepts like binary tree. Also aptitude and quant questions (like in CAT). They will test your coding skills thoroughly during the test (only in the prog. language that you opted) and will question your logic and your approach to the problem. Be thorough with your coding basics.

Round: Technical Interview
Tips: The tech rounds focused mostly on coding. You can choose any programming language that you are comfortable with. They are not insistent that you know Java. I chose C++. The interviewers mainly look at how you approach the questions (the way you solve the question - if its the most efficient/fastest solution to the problem). They will also ask quite a lot of puzzles (the ones you can prepare from Heard on the street, 400 puzzles etc.) and a few CAT quant qns.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: HR round is very easy
Tips: basic qns that you will prepare for any company. Be sure to attend the PPT; the HR will surely ask you a few qns from it. Also know a bit about the company and the profile you are sitting for.

General Tips: The test is the only criteria for getting shortlisted to the interview round. There are certain Oracle profiles that are only open for CS and one which has a CG cutoff of 8.5. But for the App Dev profile there was no CG cutoff. your performance in the test is most important, because they generally do not entertain walkins during interview. Resume is not that important. Only HR team will have a look at it. If you have any coding experience (from any projects) or Java certification then its an added bonus. But its not mandatory.
1st year- concentrate on CGPA
2nd year - find out what you want(core or noncore). Do internships in starts ups or finance or consult companies if aiming for non-core. PORs are important
3rd year- internships.
4th year- start placement preparation very early.
Work well on your project if you want to go for core.

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Speed Maths was easy, it was such that
silly mistakes were quite probable. It lasted for an hour. English was for 1.5
hrs. It was based on TOFEL(speaking, writing, listening)

General Tips: Criteria for getting shortlisted for
Capgemini’s stages of selection was performing well in puzzles and maths.

They did not stress on PORs or internships,
neither did they take the minor into account. No case study topics asked were asked.1st years- Concentrate on CG, put fight for
Day 1, Day 2 companies

2nd years- Concentrate on CG,try learning
coding(coursera) and algorithmic and financial analytics.

Try to obtain an internship in the company
you want to get placed in. It may not be a very good intern, but should be a
meaningful one.

internship.

Practice maths in the last 4
months.(probability mainly)

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The questions were very easy. So everyone might have done well but the accuracy with speed is what that makes difference.
Tips: Practice! Practice! Practice! Even though you don’t want to attempt CAT you must definitely practice with material. Several practice tests will be available online too.

Round: Guesstimate Interview
Experience: It started with normal conversation where I was asked about my interests then followed by guesstimate and a puzzle. I did the guesstimate well. I stumbled while solving puzzle, but then I went over it again from the beginning and finally solved it.
Tips: If you feel that you are going in the wrong direction then ask the interviewer and start it from scratch without getting tensed. Its approach that will be observed not the outcome.

Round: Stress Interview
Experience: It was completely HR based stress interview. I was questioned about my weaknesses and I had to convince the interviewer by quoting examples of thing done by me. At the end there was general discussion about the company.
Tips: They were impressed with my intern work. Intern was based on project management and business analyst which was very close to the job I got selected in.

General Tips: Making resume should be started during summer itself. Just make sure of whatever you are saying. Don’t ever think of how the interviewer is feeling about your answer.Prepare well to talk about the company and its profile. Refer economic times/ ET retail time to time.

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was an easy exam(The UL one). Basic quant questions were asked. But easy exams are tricky ones. You cannot afford to make mistakes. So speed and accuracy were expected.
There are lot of companies that short list based on aptitude test. Most of them shortlist around 40-50 people for the next round. So CAT preparation(or the likes of CAT,GRE etc) is a MUST even if you are not actually giving CAT. Speed and Accuracy is required. Practice infinite. Only then you can make it to the short list.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: It was a happy round. I had to talk about me, which is easy if you are well aware of who you are and what you want. I was fortunate, I was asked an easy puzzle midway and a small Guesstimate.
Tips: Keeping Calm and Talking whatever I know in a confident way helped a lot. Also, asking him a bunch of questions about the company.

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: It was a 40 minute interview. This interview had a bit untidy start. It took time for me to handle the first question, where I had to increase the sales of sofas. But I took my time, jotted down my thoughts and never stopped again. So, stay cool throughout and it helps. I could do well in all 3 questions.
Tips: Talking to the interviewer about whatever you know in the smartest way always helps. I guess my minor helped. Doing the common stuff is more than enough.

General Tips: Basic Practice for Interview is a must. Find a friend and start asking interview questions to each other. Mock Interviews help.
Use Insti life to find what you want to do for the rest of your life, and give your best in finding it. Placements are like any other course, If you really want to get them..You will…No matter what.
