Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Two part written test. First part was majorly quant and second was based on ship theory and CASDD. The whole test could be cracked if you know maths and your core courses.

Round: Interview
Experience: A 40 minute interview.They go over various questions asked in the test. Like, last year they asked to draw diagrams of the mid-ship sections and the loading curves in the longitudinal direction (buoyancy, weight, shear stress, bending moment)They also grill you on your BTP/DDP.
Tips: Be thorough with you project work and courses.Your approach to the questions matters a lot. Learn your GZ curves well.

Experience: Shortlist is done based on the result of the two tests conducted. The duration of the tests is about 2 hours. One of the tests is subjective.

Round: Interview
Experience: Interview was held in two rounds. No technical round is held. There is no technical round and no emphasis on technical background.

Experience: Shortlist of candidates made on basis of resumeThere was no test or GD
Tips: Concentrate on making a good resume highlighting your interns etc.Highlight your extracurricular activities and interests and also credentials

Round: Interview
Experience: Personal Interview- 4 rounds comprising of case studies and a bit of HR.The discussion on resume and HR questions will take only 5-10 mins. More importance will be given to caseSample cases- insurance companies, cement companies opening a new market in a new country etc.Similar pattern for all 4 rounds
Tips: General awareness about business is a must, since the selection depends solely on how well you perform in the case interviewsThe BCG website helps a lot to get an insight into how the interview works and what the company expects from the applicantsRefer to the “Interview Tips” section in the BCG websiteThe case study materials available on LAN and internet are highly useful preparation materialsDo not ignore the HR aspect of the interview. Every round lasted for 30-45 min. The HR round is quite similar to rest of the companies with questions such as Why this company? What position would you prefer? And other general queriesIn one of the round an interviewee asked us the guy to guess on how the company started from scratch? Though the interviewers give away hints and tips as you go along, it is a long process and yes difficult!
Tips: Have some knowledge about how start-ups operateCommunicating clearly is as important as your concepts. Panellist do look for good communicating skills

Tips: Revise previous core VLSI courses (Digital Circuits, Digital IC Design, Analog Circuits, and Solid State Devices).
