Since the MNC parent does not have any management depth or width, the entire dependence is on the local Board of which I was a member. This gave the exposure to a wide range of operational and management responsibilities for the folks who are capable of taking on those responsibilities. Instead of the local sub depending on the parent, this company was operating in a reverse fashion. Net-net, there were learnings every day and every week in this company since the entire burden fell on a responsible few.

Dislikes

The lack of accountability of the parent for its actions laid the entire burden on the local Indian management. Added to this was the lack of data and information support from the parent every which way.
