New Job, Higher Pay, Now I’m Feeling Awkward

I’ve been at my new job for about six months now, and everything’s been going great! I’m getting positive feedback from my manager, and I get along well with the team. The thing is, when I started, my salary offer ended up being much higher than the initial number discussed during my interview. I didn’t negotiate and just accepted the offer. So, fast forward to happy hour with the team, and the topic of salary comes up. I, unfortunately, shared what I’m making, and let’s just say... it didn’t sit well with the others who have been on the team for years and make less than me. Umande gives its employees freedom to innovate and interact with its clientele and that is basically people from the low end of the economy, by interacting with them, this brings value to the work one does. Umande has also been known for giving opportunities for growth to its employees, representing them in high-level meetings. One is given the power and freedom to create and think of new strategies with the backing of the management. It gives a feel-good factor as it gives you the platform to change peoples lives and be part of that change. The opportunities to grow are immense just depends on the desire one has. They also have an employee rehire policy, which is outstanding.

As is with other NGOs in Kenya, remuneration package isn't that great but again, NGOs are struggling financially.
