No Salary Discussion in My Appraisal — What’s Your Experience?

In my appraisal meeting, they didn’t ask or discuss my expectations about my salary or hike percentage. The entire discussion was only about feedback and performance review. After the meeting, I asked why they didn’t allow me to share my expectations or reveal my hike numbers. They told me that the hike numbers would be decided only by the owner and then they would inform me. I feel an appraisal meeting should include open discussion about both performance and future expectations. What are your thoughts? Does this happen in your company too?

The company gives chance to each & every employee to prove their excellence. For example, I have noticed that a coworker who joined in the company as service engineer has emerged as one of the top sales person in the team. Even in my case, i have started the career as IT Executive. Then after sharing my knowledge that how IT tools through social media platforms can generate enquiries & increase sales targets impressed the team. And they gave me a opportunity to prove my theoretical knowledge to practical. I love the fact that management is very transparent & gives their ears to all the employees.This is the secret of Teejan's success in the Oman market.

I like the employee policy here but compensation & benefits are not upto the mark. End of the day every one needs monetary increment that's where the relationship lasts between the company & its employee.

No policies. Only politics. No salary increment, no sales incentives , no carree growth .. only for few people who are favorites to management.. favorites coz they are relative so .

Dislikes

Everything.. no future growth. verbally they will tel increment , incentive, career growth but nothing. Nothing for 3-4 years .. full politics.. filled with relations ..
