Decent work culture, weekends are sacrosanct and rarely does work exceed work hours.

...ll say "passer by" even if you've been passing by the office daily for a year. The process to get salary involves sending them an updated invoice every month, then pinging the bill desk team twice a week for two or three weeks before they actually pay you. If you do not irritate them with weekly e-mails, they will pay you after a month or more. The cafeteria is not big enough for the amount if people who eat there and the food is not good. The subsidy is good though. The laptop they give are Terrible and you will have to switch atleast once to get a decent machine. Salaries are awful and frankly insulting when the persons background is taken into context. They simply get by with the brand name. Work is slow and the process to get anything done takes ages as approval from everyone in the hierarchy is required even when irrelevant to them. The teams all believe their work is more important than every other department in the company and will respond slowly to other teams, sometimes they will never respond so you have to ambush them at their desk to get a 2 minute job done.

The team leaders are excellent, I worked in the SonyLIV mera department for 1 and a half years. Appraisals were meagrely and work life balance was non-existent. The company refused to hire appropriate resources which just put pressure on the employees

Dislikes

Work life balance is something that needs to be improved on. The processes carried out are way too slow and dealing with the finance team for a delay in salary has become a monthly event.

Likes

Its a media company that's all I can say. Handful of experienced resources with good years(18-20) of experience were real gems to learn from(with toxic environment I believe even they won't last much). There were quite a few who have balanced work/study/life beautifully and are my role models for life.

Dislikes

With the ratings given I believe you can guess how toxic and unhealthy the work environment is. There are a handful of seniors who actually are seniors and are worth working with. Most of the new Heads/VP have 14-15 years of experience and useless. They hardly understand the system and with power given they absolutely have no respect for employees. With a fact that you just have a CPTO with no CTO itself shows how pathetic the technology leadership would be. I really pity the head of technology, ideally both of them are not even worth to be a manager. Product team are useless most of them are in company for ample of years doing nothing, no ownership in case of failures otherwise a hero. The sad part is the senior management Danish and above, accepts what product team says(CPTO/Head) and technology team(especially the ones who work) never gets any appreciation. In my last 2 years of experience I hardly heard a single word of appreciation from the senior management. Last but not the least don't join Sony if you are not from Gaana.com or paytm or Akamai or some other Ott company (because people from these company gangs up) and always appreciate each other in front of management and rest struggle to create a basic rapport.

It was indeed a "Great Place to Work" where skill, talent and creativity was acknowledged. Colleagues were open to views and walked together when things went down.

Dislikes

The new management, colleagues who have succumbed to the culture where you win by putting others under the bus. It is not about work, it is about how high and best you play politics and make life hell.

Suddenly there is change in environment which is now full of politics and favouritism. Difficult to grow if you are not part of the lobby.
