Likes

Approachable management, treat like a family. Skilled team members and Leads. Management can cross markets standards in terms of pay, when they find skils in the employee. MD is an approachable, empathetic person.

Dislikes

Treat like a family only as long as you keep doing what's expected. Dissidence is discouraged, may even be penalized. In terms of a professional company safeguarding interests of employees, they have a long way to go. Job security is zilch. Disagree with management and you will be let go within a day. WL balance is inapplicable. There is a lot of process immaturity. The company has to overhaul things but sadly, while there is recognition and a goal towards this, the will to make changes is very poor. While all of the above can be corrected, there is one endemic issue of regionalism. A subtle stress on favouring people from a particular region exists, and very often, this leads to unpleasantness if one goes against such discrimination. To become a truly global company, they have to overcome this. And this may be the hardest one.

Likes

Management provides ample care and interacts directly where you have an issue. That is, approachability, even at the MD level, is astoundingly good. Likewise, the engineers hired are very talented and great at learning. As a program manager, I had one of the best teams in like a decade.

Dislikes

There are underlying layers where you may be perceive a differential treatment. Not exactly bias but one may experience if you aren't a long timer. There is a not so visible inner circle. Having said that, the management is outwardly very fair and generous, the best you can ask for. I personally had situations that were tremendously pressurizing and the management team came down and displayed extreme care and attention. Secondly and more importantly, being an acquired entity, there WAS some instability, and this is circa 2021 ending (things may have improved now). You could resign and be relieved within a day. Which is shocking because, motives, dissatisfactions, retention, none are considered. Perhaps they get considered if you were within that "inner circle" I referred to earlier. Nevertheless, the positives outweigh negatives. The negatives are more perceived (mine) as against the positives which are observable in daily action. The management has a very entrepreneurial mindset and you could grow without boundaries if you displayed the talent and hard work. The products being serviced, have a good market in Japan in EdTech and are very mature.
