No Salary Discussion in My Appraisal — What’s Your Experience?
In my appraisal meeting, they didn’t ask or discuss my expectations about my salary or hike percentage. The entire discussion was only about feedback and performance review. After the meeting, I asked why they didn’t allow me to share my expectations or reveal my hike numbers. They told me that the hike numbers would be decided only by the owner and then they would inform me. I feel an appraisal meeting should include open discussion about both performance and future expectations. What are your thoughts? Does this happen in your company too?

It's a company with lots of potentials for growth both in terms of operations and human capital development. The company needs to work on team work and work ethics for members of staff and improve on staff welfare generally. There is job security and career development is a bit discrimintal. Salary/appraisal is progressive, travels is limited and selective. Training and development are poorly organised and selective. Work environment is safe and friendly while office politics is discriminatory and sentimental. Work-life balance is fair considering the work relationship with your supervisor. Generally there needs to be an orientation and rules on superior/subordinate work relationship and boundaries to guide in developing a good work culture.
