Extremely corrupt officials who award work to undeserving contractors for hefty bribes. Constant meddling from State Politicians for bribes and cut-money. No concept of how an organization should work, rarely any training for engineering and other staff. Totally unprofessional attitude of officials and a rotten work atmosphere filled with group politics.

Working in core department with basic knowledge and developing the practical skills office works such as preparation of work bill etc makes us enthusiastic to work forward

At the time of March we bare lot of work pressure due to the system format in public works department.

Likes

Being state govt department it is good and excellent experience in civil work , contract management, project management, site management, Quality Assurance, tendering, construction management, planning and scheduling, material management, Resources mobilization, contract administration, Estimation and operation , Budgeting, team management.

It's a good place to work. You get leaves on government holidays unlike private sector so that's an advantage. And work load as compared to private is very less.

Contract basis employees have no job security almost 0 security. And no upraisal

Being a engineering department I have learned and doing the contractual matters specifically Arbitration matters in BOQ quantities as well as EPC mode. I have also doing service and Labor matter as well as Land Acquisition matters which is big advantage for me.

Dislikes

No body has able to get appropriate decision on the spot. Everyone has expecting that if anyone has doing or give any comments upon the official file than the higher authority has taken decided the matter. Whereas every person has much capable to take a decision in the official matters but unfortunately they never do so.
