Since Platinum works closely with foreign law firms and foreign clients, it tries to emulate a British work culture i.e. lays very strong emphasis on language and style. The work environment is pleasant and the seniors are friendly. The annual appraisals are great and the salaries offered are akin to those offered by some of the best paying tier 1 firms in India.

Dislikes

The work exposure is minimal and the level of involvement in most deals is limited to conducting a red flag legal due diligence on the Indian target entities with very little or no exposure to contract drafting and negotiation. Therefore, the learning curve is almost flat after the initial few years. Whilst politics is not as aggressive as that in certain top tier law firms, the old boys club is very powerful. If, god forbid, you don’t get along with the boys gang or laugh at their double meaning jokes or are unable to take jokes cracked on you, then your stint at Platinum will be short.
