there wont be any fixed promotion in your whole working tenure i.e(If u joined as SSE then its no doubt you will retired from same post )although salaries and grade pay will increase after MSCAP but post will remain same.However there are departmental exam for promotion in gazetted rank but probablity is very less

Excellent working culture giving the scope for development of true leadership. Handsome salary, facilities, very good bungalow and travel facility, Full satisfaction and feel proud to work in the Indian Railways

Nothings to dislike only work with positive attitude with vigour and sincerity

Job work environment lis not decent & cultured. Teammatr are not supportive. Management is non transparent to the class-iii staff specially p. Way engineers.

Dislikes

There is a lot of politics & the management doesn't address our issues. Salary is decent but carrier growth is slow. There is a bond of minimum 2years before which you can't resign. On the job training is given to new joinees but not practicable to him.

...Due to 24X7 running of train, leaves are not sanctioned and casual leave/Earned leave/Sick leave gets lapsed without compensation and family life suffers.

Dislikes

...rs are denied genuine leaves which negatively affects personal and family life. Further denial of genuine leaves means earned leave is lapses without compensation making it double loss, Work environment is broadly authoritative, communication is from top to bottom only and no feedback from lower/middle/senior level staff, supervisor n officer taken to improve working conditions or to change in official rules causing impediment n delay or to change terms n conditions of employee-employer relationship or working conditions, needing to beg people fir sanction of entitled perks, highly centralised working n policy making.

The job security is best...the compensation is good enough...though the kind of work I did needed lot of time and effort..higher authorities can be a bit more appreciative about the work..about career growth, it's a bit monotonous, and a bit corrupted...so if job security is you main motto, you should join railways..

Dislikes

Nobody appreciates if you do better work then others..there is a bit elitism in railways, where the higher management authoritative poeple are given everything, and the working force is treated like daily wage workers...it can be better...everyone is working hard, so everyone should be treated equally..
