The organization gives an ample opportunity to have an in depth learning from the community on various aspects such as village institutions, managing the commons, ecological restoration and watershed management. It makes you perfectly equipped with knowledge and experience from the ground realities that might help in a broad in depth understanding about social and ecological development of the society.

It's a good place to learn and understand ground realities of working in the rural development sector, but you gotta be prepared to face quite a lot of challenges. So be prepared.

For the kind of work the pay should be a little more than what is being offered. Other than that almost all jobs have some level of difficulty that comes with it.

Having been able to experience field life. Job security. Ease of getting leaves. Other job benefits.

The reporting managers or other experienced people in the organisation almost never mentor you. You are clueless what’s going on most of the time for the first year of your job. You are made to manage a team of community resource persons(basically Human Resource management) when you have zero experience in managing people. You are made to give trainings on topics that you were never given trainings on, as if you should blurt out this information from within. It’s a messy and a very unorganised institution. There exists no HR you can take your grievances to. The seniors in the organisation speak to you regarding difficult matters you raise, only after a drink, that too just to brush your concerns off. Otherwise, they never address your problems. You are always working on Saturday and Sundays if you are in block teams as you have no life according to the organisation. They have started keeping a lot of workshops and trainings which can be of little help. But they only talk in theoretical terms and ask us to implement it on the field without giving any instructions how to. The organisations head office also has a lot of unapproachable people leading the Direct Implementation teams, who think they are approachable. Take your problems to them is also of no use as everyone in this organisation knows how to brush things under the carpet. One word: toxic

The organization provides opportunities for personal and professional growth. There is always teamwork, proper mentoring on project implementation, and opportunities to make professional decisions. There is no such discrimination among the team like gender etc.

The people there carry orthodox mindset, the supervisors and person in hierarchy want to be kept on pedestal, no space for feedback neither you can give not they can take. Hierarchy is visible and make people uncomfortable (as per discussions with my peers). Though it claims to be a gender equal and inclusive work place, specially the people sitting in leadership and management know nothing near to issues of gender and inclusion. I had a mixed experience at one posting I never got an opportunity of training or capacity building but at another location I got a plenty. There would be no compensatory leave in fact the TA/DA has been revised just a few months back. You would never receive a formal or an informal feedback. If you have certain skills you would be given those kinda jobs only exposure to other works for skill development is nominal. And they would never kick you out of job, people have been leaving on their own, and women freshers top that list.

There would be no clarity of role for a long time, mistakes would be used as a weapon to get back on you, WFH is found unproductive, buttering is prevalent, if something's not done properly (as per boss) he would never point it out, my boss didn't give me work for almost 2 months and forced me to take a transfer to a distant state from my hometown.
