I can be threatened after I post this review. But it’s important that I do because sometimes, “Be brave to stand for what you believe in even if you stand alone.” - Roy T. Bennett. So here I am posting this. Even though I speak for many of my ex-colleagues who quit because of the same reasons as me. It's very easy to point out a professional's efficiencies and jeopardize their job and in return their wholesome career. The people in power in FYI will repeatedly remind you that they are paying you and that they are paying you on time. As though they are doing you a favor by paying you or paying you on time. Are we supposed to work for free or expect untimely payment or worse beg for the services we provide to them for the very goddammit reason they have hired us in the very first place? This is exactly what I faced at For Young India. Here, you are not allowed to talk to juniors. You are not allowed to even talk to seniors. So basically, if there are no co-workers of your age, you are forbidden to talk at all. They expect you to live like robots with medieval boot camp rules. You are not allowed to go down to purchase food or tiffin or step out of the office. You are not allowed to come one minute later than 8.30 A.M. or allowed to leave one minute before 10 hours. And it’s okay if you have been working overtime, on weekends and early mornings. That won’t be paid for. You are not allowed to fall sick. You are not allowed to take any kind of leaves. And to beat it all, you are forced to pay for the owner’s charities from your own pocket. Like the incessant workshops and events that she organizes for her personal desires. You will face shameless, direct threats from the senior-most in-house Art Director if you voice out against his wrongdoing. And I quote him, “I will throw you out! Don’t mess with me. If anyone messes with me, I will take their case.” And I quote him again, “I will throw you out!” You must tolerate the incessant noise pollution inside the office caused by the Art Director's excessively loud music which no one dares to stop him from because, well, he is the senior-most employee. No use of complaints. You will be told that you will find such hostile people everywhere, so best to ignore them. Even if you are practically unable to read, write, have phone calls, online meetings, or simply be sane. The CEO will ask the HR how much salary she is paying you (As though she doesn’t know, even though she is the one who locked your salary) implying that you are not worth the price and showing that you are nothing but a liability to the company. She will keep ranting about how unimportant money is and at the end of the day you will find that she is nothing but a pathological liar who in the end means and wants and cares only about money and nothing else. Only profit and business and nothing else. If you are a newbie and a junior or a fresher, you will be made to feel like you are sitting in economy class of an airplane, and the so-called, ‘core team members are seated in business class. The Peon will sometimes hide biscuits in the container if you are not his favorite. Seniors will complain about the power there as though they are an infant in kindergarten who has stolen a lollipop. You will witness a lot of biased, hypocritical, and unfair environments here in this company. The powerful, old, and senior people suffer from mood tantrums, temper outbursts, and unabashed, self-acknowledged arrogance. You will be accused of being ‘dramatic’ if you have opinions or if you dare to breathe if you are at the receiving end. So basically, if you want to be sane, avoid FYI. This is just the basics of what I have written. There is much worse to it.
