New Job, Higher Pay, Now I’m Feeling Awkward
I’ve been at my new job for about six months now, and everything’s been going great! I’m getting positive feedback from my manager, and I get along well with the team. The thing is, when I started, my salary offer ended up being much higher than the initial number discussed during my interview. I didn’t negotiate and just accepted the offer. So, fast forward to happy hour with the team, and the topic of salary comes up. I, unfortunately, shared what I’m making, and let’s just say... it didn’t sit well with the others who have been on the team for years and make less than me. I’m Dennis Qiu, a Chinese national started working since the company formed in 2015. I contributed so much to the company, formed teams, took personality development sessions, played dual role of IT Principal and HR Manager. I’m a people’s manager. I developed staff to grow to the levels of IT Managers and Team Leads. I worked very hard to elevate the company in terms of technical expertise and workforce development, after delivering so much, I’m being treated like a stray dog that is tied to a pole at the gate. Company CTO Aleem Quadri is responsible for this condition of mine and Company CEO Ben Brukner is supporting the CTO Aleem Quadri in what whatever call he takes. I’m still employed here as I need financial support for my family of 3 kinds and one wife. Hope this review helps you in taking an informed decision in your career path. IT Principal!
