No Salary Discussion in My Appraisal — What’s Your Experience?
In my appraisal meeting, they didn’t ask or discuss my expectations about my salary or hike percentage. The entire discussion was only about feedback and performance review. After the meeting, I asked why they didn’t allow me to share my expectations or reveal my hike numbers. They told me that the hike numbers would be decided only by the owner and then they would inform me. I feel an appraisal meeting should include open discussion about both performance and future expectations. What are your thoughts? Does this happen in your company too?

Some colleagues were really good and supportive

Dislikes

Politics and 3 months salary plus 10% retention of salary (for the period of 2 years and 10 months) was never paid. Contract was saying vacation after 2 years but in actual it was given after 10 months of service that’s how almost 3 years of service was taken without vacation/leaves even though major salary part was kept by the company.

Good work experience, teammates are very co-operative.There is huge playground in fornt of our office building.Dinner together.The best part is the G.M of the company directly interacts with his employees

There is a lot of politics and the management doesn't address our issues.Salary is decent but career growth is slow.There is a bond of 2 years before which you cannot resign.On the job training is not given to new joinees

Nothing to like in this company, worst.

...laries is in fashion in this company. If you work here forget about your family. At the time of vacation, they will put your salary on hold for two months. If you resign get ready to pay a huge sum. High level of discrimination & politics. The accommodation has been attacked many times by the local goons. very risky to stay in the company's accommodation. For everything you will be responsible as per the company. Once you reached Angola, this company forgets about the contract you signed, they will not consider anything, and the company will change the contract for their own benefit without taking the employee into confidence. The company will force you to work without VISA as getting a visa is expensive in Angola, so get ready to go to jail as the police in Angola looking for foreigners always. The company will mentally and physically torture you. Food in the accommodation is worst and unhygienic. Surprisingly the owner of the company is fully aware of all these but he is only busy making money. The company's GM is useless and will always tell you stories.

...ieve anyone instead he thinks people may take my money from system loopholes. Salary never come on time, 2-3-4 month delay in salary is common. Atleast 2 months salary + vacation money keep on hold apart from agreed retention money. (Employees told that no money will be keeping while someone go on vacation but when time come they do and never release to anyone with reason e.g. bank not transferring, we faced huge loss go home next will transfer, you go next week will give, etc Increment not given every year and when approve its value vary 2000 to 3000 (which not sufficient to regain purchasing power) Company computer systems are too old and not proper workable but they always expect report super fast. If you carry some dollars with you to meet your personal Expense, Management would say you are taking companies money for your expenses. Too much interference in personal life they always watch who is messaging and talking with whome even married people there are watched and management always keen to know what they're talking to their family and to their wife
