Date 15/04/2022 So basically the job is to be the stack overflow to AWS customers. You'll learn everything about AWS services, how they work etc. Basically everything about them. Timeline- Month 1 : learn about different networking technologies( not AWS services) Month 2 -3 : start learning 1 service eg opensearch and perfect it. I mean know everything that you can do with opensearch. Month 4 you start getting cases like a customer will have a problem which either happened due to customer messed up or its an internal AWS error. You'll be solving these cases alone. Also at month 2-3 you'll be assigned a mentor that will help you in doing example cases and shadow cases. After month 4 you'll progress with other services as they are scheduled like month 5-6 learn second service and so on, so after you have adapted to the workflow your speed in learning how services work will increase. Future : you can leave the job role anytime, so if your ultimate goal is become an sde and you have cleared the interviews for cloud support associate and this is your only offer TAKE IT. And start Leet code and solve minimum 500 questions (150easy,250Medium, 100hard) So that you are fully prepared for the Amazon sde interview, and keep your resume updated at all times , take part in online coding competitions to boost your resume, etc. After 6 months after joining reach out to recruiters or hiring manager through internal job portal (different from the one you see from outside) and ask them if they are willing to take your interview for sde role. Even If you hate coding or don't understand it it's a well paying job role, if you are good at it your work day doesn't have to be longer than 6 hrs. Your shifts are fixed from 8-5 or 7-4 officially with Saturday Sunday off, sometimes you can work if you want to.

...around 1.5 times of the minimum limit as its also the necessity for promotion. Latest salary for cloud support associate is 9L as base and 3 L as joining bonus which will be added monthly so your total compensation is 12L for year 1 and by year 2 you'll be a cloud support engineer which has a salary increase of 25-40% . So this role has a progression like this CSA->CSE1->CSE2->Sr CSE plus you can become a subject matter expert for any service ( All SMEs I have encountered are very knowledgeable but some think that all the CSAs know their level and are bad teachers) So I would suggest investing time to learn AWS services from documents, YouTube and stack overflow and other internet resources if you want to excel in this job role. Your role progression can also look like CSA->SDE 1 ->SDE 2->SDE 3 if you clear interview at earlier stage. And also like CSA->CSE 1->SDE 1- SDE 2 -SDE 3 if you were a little late at preparation. Getting a good manager and mentor is very important for your career progression and that depends on luck. So just pray that you are lucky while you are entering this job role.

The company has very high standards when it comes to the quality of the work done. The topmost engineers and managers get to work in teams that are related to AWS in Amazon and this leads to a highly competitive work environment. At the same time, because of the diverse use cases that AWS customers have with the AWS products, the innovation factor is very high and hence we get to see a lot of services released every year in AWS :ReInvent.

...e that you might not even get a minimum appraisal and be thrown out of your job. The compensation looks quite good in the beginning, but as you stay on in the company, you begin to realize how heavily the whole system is tilted towards the company maximizing the benefit of overworking its employees. The company claims to be a customer centric organization and while it is exactly that on every level, but that comes at a cost of being not so employee centric. Targets which seem impossible to achieve unless you do not extend your shift, a work culture that is becoming toxic by the day and a metric only focussed company are the negatives that can drive you away from the company.
