GF salary Vs. My salary
Me and my gf have been dating for 5 years. Back in 2020, I started my career with a package of ₹5 LPA. Over the years, I’ve reached ₹22 LPA in 2025. She started her journey with ₹3 LPA(2020) and is now earning ₹8 LPA(2025). We’ve been in a live-in relationship for around 2 years, and the idea was to share expenses equally. But, equal sharing never really happened. If we go to a café she likes, especially with friends, I will pay the entire bill. We only split the house rent and grocery bills. I told her lots of time to cut down these costly cafe expenses or earn more money, increase your package, study and work hard, but.....she is now in her comfort zone. Being from a tech background, I have seen people upgrade their skills and package for a good life in metro cities. I am ready to support her in her studies, but she is like I am earning enough for myself.... No, you are not. I love her, but I don't know how to overcome this issue between us. Please suggest!

1. Salary on 25th of every month 2. WFH kit 3. Pro and a con - So many engagement activities throughout the year, its nice to volunteer and give back to the community but some big budget activities are so unnecessary sometimes you feel instead of wasting so much money on cultural and sports budgets, give better salary and bonus to your employees 😂 4. Free snacks, fancy office, pick up/drop cabs 5. Situated in a very cool office campus 6. Great company if you don’t care about skill development and career progression. If you are someone who likes mediocrity, no challenges at work but loves participating in office politics, you will have the best time here.

Fed up of politics and micro management 1. No Career progression, your scope of work will always be limited since they do not have any revenue stream in India 2. Asset Management firm with KPO mindset:. Office in India feels like back office operations, even if you have a fancy designation, work title or job description you are only viewed as support staff. 3. No flexibility for in office timings, strictly follow the RTO 8 hrs in office policy. 4. People judge you if you leave before 8 PM. Everyone in India office is so used working in the night shift, you get judgemental looks and comments passed at you if you leave the office earlier than them, feels like a crime. Please understand not every job requires to work the same time as the US markets, especially if you are individual contributors or have research oriented work. 5. Indian managers will only try to micromanage you and throw taunts. Doesn’t feel like a reputed US Asset Management firm since culture is totally different in US and India. Only onsite managers are understanding. 6. Blocking opportunities and only supporting people who butter them - misuse of power at management level. Few people are here just because of buttering. Due to this people not having right skills or experience have been given high posts, which also leads to designations not being aligned with industry. Sometimes tenure in the company plays a bigger role in your designation rather than right skill set and competence. 7. You cannot openly put your perspective, if you do so incompetent people start targeting you. 8. If people notice your skills and performance, and see that your onshore team recognises your work, they see that as a threat and start targeting you. 9. Work culture does not reward top performers and competent people. 10. Upper Management is all boys club. Very less representation of women leaders in the firm, there few women leaders who are more tenured. They wont have more competent and skilled women promoted to management levels.
