Work life balance is good. U can get unlimited leaves if you are a permanent employee by fooling that you are WFH. This is what is going on in the company.
Dislikes
For contract employee: The policy is hire and fire. They will not think twice before firing you even if you have joined just since a month. That is what happened with 5 people in the team. They hired all of them at once in oct 2024 and fired them even before receiving the first salary. So if you currently have a permanent job then dont join whirlpool even if they offer you 50 or 80 percent hike, bcz they will fire you in just 3 months.
This is a very serious thing going on in the company. They have fired 25 contracts employees in engineering team in Dec 24 by telling that they dont see any projection of projects.
Also, they will not treat you with respect if you are a contract employee. You will never be absorbed by them in whirlpool bcz they dont even see whether the employee is actually skilled and can do work efficiently.
So, this company is a huge red flag if you are joining as a contract employee....Read More

Organisation talks about one whirlpool, but when it comes to giving opportunities only the ones specifically now people of Brazil are taking bias to push their people to higher level. The organisation is for all these reasons losing its credibility in the market.
Everywhere we go we see only the Brazilians
Contrary to that the leaders in India stop their own people from growing. These things one day will eat up everything that Whirlpool had earned previously
Let me give an example:
People with OpEx Black belt and 10 years of experience in India is only an individual contributor have solved and successfully delivered many cross functional projects
Where as one person with 1 year industrial experience has been selected as Project manager and the other from his same college with 1-2 years of total experience with only a bachelor’s in engineering degree has been promoted to technical lead position. And guess what they are Brazilians

I wish there is something to like about the company. If I have to say one thing relatively, It would be available online trainings inside whirlpool portal.
Dislikes
- Whirlpool likes to lay-off employees every 2 years ( Since 2016 ) they did not miss this pattern
- Bad culture , you will have to be in managers good books only to get decent rating.
- Company indirectly is owned by Brazilians. You will find a lot of Brazilians at Sr. Manager, Director and Sr. Director who are less - deserving ( it's not just my opinion but all non brazilian people opinion ) and similar knowledge and thought process and more deserving person does not get promoted. Oh one more thing.
- Most of the managers and above don't have first hand experience in the field ( very few people grew within the company , as in lay offs many experienced people got laid off and a few other good experienced people left whirlpool as it doesn't have job security ). These managers and leaders are good for only one thing , we should do that and we should do that talk. I mean , I understand this is part of their job but part of their job is also to understand hurdles and make sure those hurdles have been taken cared of, to have effective work. Sadly they won't do that. Of course work quality of employees get affected and in turn product quality.

2) Helps person become extremely tactful and responsible - great platform to develop one's leadership skills

1) Constant churn and layoffs - Lack of job security makes concentration on one's work a difficult task
2) Whirlpool Corporation's global HR policies are blatantly bypassed - one example is that employee's work timings are flexible as per the global policy, however, local HR tracks the timing of each employee and sends the sheet to the managers each month and employees who are not staying back post the office timings are called in on Saturdays. Another example is that employees who utilise their Earned Leaves are punished, the expectation is that employees have to apply for leaves but attend office without punching in. All employees are shown as having taken the mandated off days for record purpose only, whereas they have to come in to work and ensure that they have not marked their attendance.
3) Zero trainings over the past 6 years - If you are already skilled and trained, you can utilise those skills here, but forget learning and development
3) Work-life balance is a myth in many functions, some of the functions, especially manufacturing, are severely under-staffed and some are generously over-staffed
4) Life in functions other than Manufacturing is good - avoid a role in the manufacturing/operations umbrella (Including Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations, Maintenance)
5) Absolute lack of cohesion between various functions means one is constantly on the run trying to undermine other functions and also defending one's own function against allegations by other functions - this time could be easily spent in doing something productive
6) There have been few instances where Safety has taken a back seat, giving priority to Cost over Employee Safety, this is not a norm, but has definitely happened...Read More

-The Inclusion and Diversity initiative is just a joke at Whirlpool. They conveniently targeted female employees of the Simulation team in the second layoff cycle, reason being given that there are a lot of companies outside which are interested in hiring diversity candidates.
-Prafull Gandhi is the worst person in leadership, he isjust sitting at his position and protecting all his reports who are his favourites.
The managers who get the lowest marks in internal surveys get promoted easily than the better performing managers.
-Rampant favouritism within the team. The favourites who lack basic engineering knowledge are just sitting in the organisation and licking their managers boots, and getting promoted within 2-3 years. The other set of knowledgeable and talented employees are just having no succession plans and ultimately leave the organisation within a few years.
-The organisation in India (GTEC) is being run by a bunch of oldies who have spent like 15-20 years in the organisation and they have a control over everything right from whom to promote (especially their favourites) to whom to fire (mostly the ones who are talented and are not into yes sir yes sir of bosses). These oldies are just trying hard to maintain their relevance within the organisation by hijacking most of the information. And these oldies are trying to save their jobs by playing dirty politics by interfering with the careers of bright minds by giving their unusually biased feedback during performance reviews, only because they are insecure of losing their own jobs due to irrelevance.
-HR has the least hold on these managers and oldies, they are just a bunch of puppets who just have the job of only hiring and firing people. No major contribution to the organisation.
-Apart from that there is no transportation facilities, no fooding facilities there used to be a small paid canteen which they closed down, due to cost cutting initiatives stopped giving diaries and calendars, stopped issuing new sim cards, domestic travel by trains....Read More

Job security was not a concern with Whirlpool until March where layoffs were announced globally; salary was on the lower side but pressure wasn't unmanageable until 6 months ago when management changes happened
Dislikes
Culture is a hit or a miss depending on the manager in charge; micromanagement is the name of the game; no succession plan for new hires; appraisal is subpar by industry standards; lack of support from corporate HR in any concerns raised; even one day leaves get rejected at the whims and fancy of the manager in charge
