Good work culture. Company policies are very good.
Teammates are not cooperative and reporting officers are baised. Salary is decent but career groth is not good. There is lot of politics in the department.
There was no formal training session so struggled a bit. I learnt everything on the job.

1. Discrimination and not clarity by heads on the tasks assignment between lL4 and lL5 employees. 2. Lateral hired employees are cheated by company in terms of pay packages , and the high pays are paid to freshers from top b-schools who are hired as Mtc over lateral employees who carry decent exposure of industry. 3. For performing sales person joining from outside, their careers is ruined. 4. Head is partial between newly joined lateral employees and the existing employees from hired as mtc. I have very strong view that if someone joining tata steel then join as MTC to get fair treatment else the company is not good for the laterally hired employees and can lead to ruin their past stable career who trust to join the firm on the name of TATA brand image in the market....Read More

Worst working culture. If you are at any other big industry (steel or cement sector or any other sector) don't come to Tata Steel Kalinga Nagar. It has worst work environment. Lowest payment and 16 hours duty at least 10 days a month. You will be punished for the mistakes of officers. The officers don't even know how to do the job. I work previous on Jindal Stainless limited but it is worst mistake to leave that company and come to Tata Steel Kalinga Nagar. If I rate JSL as 5 star Tata Steel will be -5 star. Even managers don't allow to go to lunch and tiffin in 16 hours duty. Even in normal days I can't eat lunch in general shift because of work. (Despite of 9 hour duty of 8:30 to 17:30 with 1 hour lunch). Canteen food quality is poor. If you have any connection with head or chief , you can join because then you won't need to do any work. You have to supervise 7-8 jobs daily with 50-60 manpower which is nearly impossible for good quality job. If any failure occur after your job (doesn't matter how many jobs you are supervising) you will be terminated from job. (Max allowed 3 mistakes). Fun part is out of those 8 jobs you will 2 jobs with high workload but manpower will be 2 in those jobs. You have to work as fitter + helper even you have to do the lifting of heavy machine with hand. So won't get to supervise other jobs. Safety is zero. Managers will tell you to start your job without isolation or operation permission in some cases. (Which is fatally potential). And if you don't do they will accuse you of something and handover to HR. And if accident occurs then also you will be terminated. For your information I haven't received any chargesheet or letter from HR till now. But my colleagues got terminated by this. I don't even know when I will be next. Even though I know I can complete all those jobs without any mistake if I get 2-3 jobs (each 8 hour or 16 hours jobs). So you don't have a choice. Yearly increment is Rs 710 for JE and if you are thinking about DA it also get negative even before getting positive. In last 1 and a half year my DA reached Rs 700. They don't even give leave for family problems or marriage even with 2 months advance leave planning. You won't get weekly off sometime. I lost too many weekly offs. 70 days 16 hours shift without any extra benifits (in terms of leave or money). If are at Jindal Stainless don't come to Tata Steel Kalinga Nagar ever. Otherwise you will cry. I have seen bengali managers at Tata Steel jamshedpur, they are extremely rude and with bad behaviour. Good only if you are from a good collage. Your previous experience means nothing to them. If you want promotion, you have to apply to the other department of which you have zero knowledge. A mare 2 year old trainee will become your boss. All management trainee got high ego issue.
