The flexibility of doing our work with supportive PI's. The liberty to plan and work. Due to lockdown we aren't allowed to travel and work. So not much help.

Dislikes

The PI's are supportive, however, the staff is not, very bais on unnatural grounds and have no security with respect to work credits.

Actrec is a recommendable place in terms of learning experience. Work life balance depends under whom you are working and how they are treating you. Work life politics is there obviously and the environment there is good! Salary provided is more than sufficient I feel though trainees are paid none- that's the worst part!

Dislikes

Trainees should be paid some amount as life in Mumbai is expensive. Further as I did my masters in a private university so I had to pay 18k for my dissertation whereas people from government University didn't have to pay any amount. This is not something that I would support really. Also there should be fixed timings for the trainees as well, as my phd scholar made my life a living hell there by making me work for 11 -12 hours per day including weekends. Lot of opportunities to learn as there are conferences and seminars. The projects are very good. Lot of exposure to new technologies. It's a patient oriented lab where the patient's wellbeing is important. Reassays are done to confirm the results by various methods.

Dislikes

The permanent job opportunity is not only on merit Or work reference basis but on caste bases and family references. So they make you work on contract basis with low salary. And mostly the undeserved one's get the permanent job which is unfair.

I loved the politics-free, friendly, non-hierarchial culture of the lab I worked at. The supervisor was kind and able. There is a shuttle bus service from the institute to multiple parts of the city. The onboarding process is transparent and foolproof. All in all, a very pleasant experience. The campus is very beautiful and peaceful.

Infrastructure is a bit old, but not too bad.
