freedom in trying your ideas (because your superiors won't put much efforts), Canteen is average, Campus is big and have lots of trees, No need to travel

Sree Chitra (SCTIMST) being a Research and Development institute in the Government sector, there is a fair chance of you putting your efforts and ideas to realize a patent or a medical device. Trust me, as per SCTIMST norms, no royalty will be given to the on-contract staff and project staff. Your senior permanent staff will take away all the credits from you. SCTIMST is a Government organisation, hence it have two types of staffs - Permanent and On-contract (temporary) and you will be treated according to your position. Administration: They will treat you differently, based on whether your are a permanent staff or a on-contract staff. If you are an on-contract staff, no respect will be given to your education and good conduct (and they expect you to respect them back!!). Your requests and files will be delayed, for even years. My salary fixation file based on the Government order, is still not processed by the administrative staff concerned with it. Trust me, this is not a personal issue. Most of the temporary staff at SCTIMST are treated like this, unless you are a bootlicker. Accounts and Finance: Biased and knowledge-wise unfit for the posts they are concerned with (You could come around people with BA English background doing the accounting work and persons with B.Com or M.Com degree doing the sweeper job at SCTIMST). Your salary may be delayed by accounts section, if you are an on-contract staff. During COVID-19, no leaves were given to the temporary staff in my department. Salary: Too less for on-contract persons. No incentives will be given to on-contract staff. Other Benefits: No benefits will be given to the project staff and on-contract staff. Only benefit is HRA. No TA, No DA, No health insurance for the contract staff. My suggestion: Do not join this institute as a temporary staff.
