This is the largest Plantation company in public sector in India. With an extent of 34000 acres and over 3300 employees, it's a vast learning ground for the aspiring. Since the Board of Directors was quite supportive, I could start a lot of innovative projects to broaden the sources of income.

Dislikes

Being a public sector undertaking, is the strength as well as weakness of the corporation. Internal and external politics influence the work environment. Since the Board of Directors is primarily appointed on political considerations, a change in government results in ensuing fault finding excercise, effectively undoing even good works done by the previous board. Continuity in top management is lacking and hence the organisation often lacks sense of direction. Job satisfaction is to be derived from inside oneself, because appreciation for good work may not be forthcoming due to political reasons....Read More

Work Details

As the Chief Executive, I found it quite challenging and exciting to plan and execute various projects to strengthen the Organisation. Could manage the huge workforce of over 3000 labour, without losing more than 3 working days, as strike, during 4 years.

Work days: Alternate Saturday off
