Notice period, early join

My current company notice period is two months 23-Dec-2024 to 20-feb-2024. But my new employer asking for early join ie 3rd of feb! I requested for early relieve to My current employer. Verbally they agreed to relieve two weeks early but now they not ready to relieve early. They want me to complete two months notice period. My new employer asking to join early! What can I do? MWH is closing it's India operations from October 2018. At present there are only a handfull employees working and majority of them are on contract basis. The overall experience in MWH had been good.

MWH has been merged with a Canadian based global co viz Stantec. This company including MWH has high ethic standards which is desirable but does not work in India from the point of view of getting municipal/ govt. contracts.
