My overall experience working in Kolkata office is not at all satisfactory. I'm with the editorial team and work culture is terrible. You can get away with less work, leaves, win accolades if you're a good boot licker. Salaries are depressed like usual (media industry). Fancy designations will not assure you of a respectable salary. There is absolutely nothingcalled a bonus. A Diwali bonus is given after completion of a year which is 650 rupees and that's all you will get in the year. Only good thing about the Financial express (Indian Express Group) is that you get sat and Sunday off which is really good as not all journalists get their weekends off. Increments are extremely poor. People get 1000-1500 rupees hike if they perform well. Very good performers get around 3000 rupees. I worked for FE and the management is pathetic. It is there resolution to not let juniors grow because you might outshine anyone, so that opportunity will not be given. Once big fat crocodiles occupy a chair, it's too precious to let go.
