Most beautiful campus. Pride of working for Aviation. Enormous knowledge sharing by US counterparts as well and tonnes of documents. Very good workscope. Not like a service provider. Not like low end job. Allows job rotations provided it is lead by employee himself/herself. Quiet people Miss out often.

Dislikes

Performance assessment makes one more insecure than more motivated. Seniors pick and choose projects and entry points into younger team members project based on the likelihood of limelight and guaranteed success rather than taking up the difiicult projects/likely to fail projects. Word collaboration is twisted for formalising stealing from juniors. Boisterous kind of people more likely to succeed. Simple, quiet, hardworking people end up getting more gyaan on how to improve performance. Individual contributor sustainability beyond 15 yrs exp is not for the faint hearted. Extremely tough scary goals set upfront. Insecure feeling lingers on and on due to fear of failure. Loyalty or past accomplishments mean nothing for current year assessment. Job change to new domain at higher experience level is almost suicidal as he/she may not be able to exceed/meet expectations in initial years of change. Engineers are pretty good, but the work culture which is driven from organisation is really terrible. It's non other than others average product or service companies. GE is great name but it's not the case in India. Teammates are good, most of them are from India's reputed colleges. GE aviation does not provide any formal training, training will go in parallel with jobs. Yours job is not secure at all, you may be fired any time. You will do the same job after 15 years if somehow you survived since you was doing at the time of joining, only 1% employees will get promotion. Salary is competitive as for others mechanical MNCs, this is good where GE stands satisfactory. They will not allow traveling or on-site jobs as it incur much cost to company. Forget about work life balance, when pressure come from US, they will force you to work on any day. I already mentioned most about dislikes in like column. GE has been very big brand in college campus, but truth is entirely different at aviation, others business is good regarding work culture and WL balance, but aviation is pathetic. Salary hike is average 8% per year. Work wise it's again completely business driven, you have limited choices and choose among them, forget about yours personal interest. GE aviation is not employees focused at all now. Top management has become shoes licker of theirs bosses seated at US. Coming to teammates, they are very good people to help to in tough times,especially the senior engineers. About training,they give more importance to training sessions, which helps you to become a champion in technical and managerial domains. Job security is good up to some extent. I can not talk more about career growth, as i had worked there for only 2.5 years. Appraisal is purely performance based, no politics involved. since its US based company, travel is not required much.but within india, they encourage alot to attend training programs. You have lot many things to learn here..firstly, GE is a highly professional world..we can build good mannerism personally..in technical domain, infinite opportunities are there to expand your knowledge base. rarely micro management happens... Until you work for it, you love everything about it...but if by chance you leave GE for any reason, you become complete stranger to them..i had personal experience, i left GE for my UPSC preparation, after few failures, i sent a mail to my manager to revive my career in GE Aviation...but they even didnt reply...atleast they could have sent a reply by saying there are no vacancies right now...poor attitude...Read More
