Working At GTRE,DRDO gave me a look at what goes at the Central Government Services. It follows all the rules very efficiently but the Organisation is working because of its people who sometimes do it their own way.

Dislikes

This place consists Great,Good and best Scientists and  Officers.There is a practice of Partiality in some sections like How they treat Contract Employee, Apprentices,Casual Labours. This Lab is just like any other Office place. It is Maintained by Humans after all.

Hi everyone, this is a long and honest review about my Apprentice journey (mechanical) 1. Reason -I left my well paying production job cause I didn't like it and wanted to change field to Computational Mechanics but no one provides job in computation unless experienced so I turned to GTRE. 2. Shortlisting - I applied at NATS portal and kept ID ready once apprentice application released I applied (shortlisting takes place based on engineering marks) so most people get shortlisted and so was I (vacancy is 150/year) 3. After joining upon request I was put into Heat Transfer 4. Here I met my division and best people, I was given a live project to work on which most people miss out so I put a lot of interest into working on it, initially I didn't know much but my department Scientist we're kind enough to give me time to clean geometry and Mesh the model. Infact very less literature was available online regarding the same 5. Then slowly I caught up with the model and how it was to be simulated , in my first presentation I made a mistake in estimation of flow but was corrected without scolding which made me even more eager to get things right for my dept. 6. It was almost 4 months by the time I made my first proper presentation about the model and my dept was so happy about the results that came up. (Any private company would have fired me but difference is my dept encouraged me as constant efforts were put on which most apprentice don't cause ,u get paid ₹9000 right and end up jobless by end of the year so please don't do that) 7. Later I gained confidence and started learning Hypermesh 2D and Fluent 3D meshing, again supported for a mini project and finished it in 2 weeks 8. Also conducted parametric studies for various models So at the end i got practical knowledge and placed in the same computational domain at a private firm at end of the year😁 which am grateful GTRE helped me. Do's First things first - once joined u can request for interested dept. make a soft request. Thing is there are people who are experienced more than ur age and are gazatted officers from Govt of India so lay ur ego aside and start learning Also ur a grown up so lot of effort from ur side is expected and once people gain confidence that u work, Scientist and you as a team can make things work. My dept and I were a good team, got placed while another apprecntice also joined with me in same dept. even he worked hard and got shortlisted at top 15 university in US for computational mechanics. Don't Do not have the mind set that ur getting paid only ₹9000 and don't have to work or put in effort at the end of the year u regret if you didn't gain with 1 year time invested. Scientist are employees who are settled and it is not essential for them to train you up. It is ur interest that has to come up to learn and ask, Scientist are more than happy to help if u show basic interest....Read More
