Ans.

Aluminium extraction involves the process of electrolysis of alumina (Al2O3) dissolved in molten cryolite.

  • Alumina is dissolved in molten cryolite to lower its melting point.

  • The mixture is then electrolyzed using carbon electrodes to extract pure aluminium metal.

  • The aluminium metal is then processed further to obtain the desired form (ingots, sheets, etc.).
