Wintek

Wintek wants to clear up the picture. The Taiwanese company makes a variety of display components used primarily in communication devices, PDAs, televisions, notebook computers, digital still cameras, clocks, office equipment, car audio systems, and video games. Its products include glass displays, touch-screen panels, light guides, and LCDs. Module assembly accounts for much of Wintek's sales. Established in 1990, Wintek operates manufacturing plants in Taiwan and China and exports its products to the US, France, Germany, and Hong Kong. In 2006 Wintek bought an LCD fabrication plant from HannStar Display for about $186 million in cash and stock; a year later, it bought another LCD plant from Hannstar.
