Pollinate Energy has developed a social business model where they enable the local rural population to become entrepreneurs. The company sells products such as solar lanterns, improved cookstoves, solar fans and water filters to families living in slum communities through their network of "Pollinators". They work with families directly in their homes providing education on their products and how to use them and offer all customers short term payment plans to make the products affordable. The company claims that their model allows families to save 15 percent of their income, and improve their health, safety and quality of life.
