Permasteelisa makes and installs external cladding (also known as architectural envelopes or curtain wall) using materials such as glass and aluminum for buildings that range from small structures to landmarks. Past projects include Frank Gehry's Experience Music Project building in Seattle and his Guggenheim Museum in Spain. It also designs and makes internal cladding and office interior products such as partitions and furnishings. Permasteelisa provides services particularly for the construction of banks and skyscrapers. It operates subsidiaries in the US, Europe (about half of sales), and Australasia. Private equity firms Investindustrial and Alpha acquired Permasteelisa in a leveraged buyout in 2009.
