Kinross Gold is always looking for that next bright, shiny object -- as long as its made of gold. One of the world's top 10 gold miners, Kinross digs for the precious metal in Brazil, Chile, Ghana, Mauritania, Russia, and the US. It also has projects in Canada, Ecuador, and Mexico. The company controls proved and probable reserves of more than 62 million ounces of gold, nearly 91 million ounces of silver, and 1.4 billion pounds of copper. Although historically nearly half of the company's revenues came from its Fort Knox and Round Mountain properties in the US, other operations around the world have been acquired and/or started production since 2007, thereby diversifying the company's production base.
