NCLAT green-lights Indiabulls Real Estate-Embassy Group merger, overrides NCLT order
- The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has green-lit the merger between Indiabulls Real Estate, Embassy Group, and NAM Estates, overriding the earlier order of the NCLT.
- The merger, which was on hold for 18 months, received all necessary clearances from regulatory bodies and approval from shareholders and creditors.
- The NCLAT stated that the NCLT should not have interfered in the valuation done by experts and observed that the objections raised by the Income Tax Department were later left at the discretion of the tribunal.
- The merger aims to create a pan-India real estate company, with Indiabulls Real Estate having a presence in North India and NAM Estates and Embassy One Commercial Property Developments operating in South India.
