‘Bharat Iron Syndicate (BIS.)’ came in to existence on ‘31st October 1974’.
It was formed by: ‘Late Shri. Nanakchand Mediratta’, along with his elder son: ‘Late Mr. Prithviraj Nanakchand Mediratta’.
In those days it was an up-hill task to venture into the field of ‘Iron & Steel’ & dent on the monopoly of existing players, that too in industry-belt of western-side of the country.
Still the company started it’s operations at ‘Kolsa Bunder, Mumbai’, with only ‘2 self-owned warehouses’ to store materials & distribute further.
Gradually, the company started specializing in distributing ‘Circular Blanks’, which used to get sourced from various factories, in and around Mumbai, to get stored at company’s warehouses, followed by due segregation & then supplied further to respective customers.
With ever-increasing thirst for growth, the company felt the need to expand & ventured into region of ‘Pune-city’, to tap the potential of industrial & automobile hub of that market.
Shortly ‘BIS’ started sourcing ‘scrap-materials / blanks’ from various factories & brands located in Pune (i.e., Tata, Bajaj & SKF, etc..) as well & transported them to respective customers at Mumbai, post further treatment & processes.
Gradually in order to reduce the cost of this operation, company started with a rented warehouse at ‘Pimpri-Pune’, where in the company started storing steel from local supplier & started dispatching from Pune itself, post segregation.
Since Pune is a growing industrial-belt, ‘BIS’ realized the opportunity to sell raw-steel here, looking at the existing demand. Hence in the year: ‘1985’, ‘BIS’ started supplying raw ‘Prime-Steel-Sheets’ to factories in Pune, by sourcing them from importers in Mumbai or by buying from ‘SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited.)’.
Apart from ‘Steel-Sheets’, ‘BIS’ also identified market for other form of steel (i.e., Structural steel (i.e., Angles, Channels & Bright-Bars, etc..), etc..), and hence started selling the same to respective customers as per their customized needs.
Thus business started picking up & BIS ended up opening a branch-office in Pune in the year: ‘1988’ to cater to ever-growing business-needs.
In the year: ‘1990’, ‘Late Shri. Nanakchand Mediratta’ introduced his younger son: ‘Mr. Vinay Nanakchand Mediratta’ for managing ‘Sales & Customer Relationship Management’ activities of the company.
In the year: ‘1993’, with due guidance & support from his father, Vinay started acting as ‘Managing Partner’ in ‘BIS’.
In the year: ‘2000’, Vinay’s wife: ‘Mrs. Kiran Vinay Mediratta’ also joined ‘BIS’ to take the helm of ‘HR & Administration’ functions of the company.
Sensing current pulse & future potential of business & ever-increasing need of customers, Vinay introduced the idea of setting-up ‘Steel-Servicing-Centers’, to re-introduce the company as ‘One Stop Shop (OSS.)’ to it’s customers. So, in 2007, a ‘sister-concern-company’ by the name: ‘MSquare Metal Processors Private Limited (MSQ.)’ was formed, by the owners of ‘BIS’.
The location of this company is at ‘Talegaon’, which is a business critical & strategic location, within the outskirts of Pune. Infrastructure of ‘MSQ’ includes a covered shed of ‘60000 Square Feet’, erected on ‘5 Acres’ of land, housing ‘4 cranes’, where in lifting-capacity of each lift is ‘30 Tonnes’, along with ‘3 CTL (Cut To Length.) Lines’ & ‘4 Shearing Machines’ with the capacity to process ‘100000 Tonnes Per Annum’.
And behind this entire infrastructure, there is a team of skilled & experienced work-force to serve BIS’s & MSQ’s large customer base, even with customer’s last moment requirements.
This caters to the needs of big automobile-companies & yellow goods industries of Pune, by not just supplying steel, but also supplying the right type of steel.
In the year: ‘2010’, ‘BIS’ became the official distributor of ‘JSW Steel (One of the largest steel companies in India.)’. With this ‘BIS’ started developing special grades of steel, as per customer’s needs.
In the year: ‘2011’, ‘BIS’ moved its ‘Corporate Office’ in Pune, from ‘Nehru Nagar’, in to a bigger industrial premises of ‘20000 Square Feet’ at ‘MIDC-Bhosari’, accommodating an office-area of ‘5000 Square Feet’, with latest amenities & infrastructure.
In the year: ‘2014’, ‘BIS’ signed up with ‘Uttam Galva’ for ‘Galvanized Plain Material Distributorship’, followed by signing-up with ‘Bhushan Power & Steel Limited’ & ‘SAIL (Steel Authority of India Limited.)’ as a ‘District-Dealer’ in the year: ‘2015’.
Thus, ‘BIS’ added thickness & range in steel to it’s portfolio.
Also in order to satisfy customers, ‘BIS’ achieved another milestone, by adding ‘Forward Integration’ in steel, by setting up a plant for ‘Laser & Plasma Cutting’, along with ‘Bending Solutions’, followed by ‘Fabrication’.
In line to the above, ‘BIS’ has commissioned the following:
‘Bystronic Fiber Laser Cutting Machine’ of ‘2.0 x 4.0 m Bed Size’ with ‘10 KW IPG Power Source’ is installed & ready to serve in higher capacities with finest accuracy (It’s first of it’s kind, in terms of ‘Bed Size’ & ‘Power Source’, in ‘Indian Market’.).
‘Ermaksan Fiber Laser Cutting Machine’ of ‘2.6 m x 8 m Bed Size’ with ‘3 KW IPG Power Source’.
‘Messers, German Make Plasma Machine’ with ‘3.0 m x 15 m Bed Size’, with ‘Kjellberg High Focus 280i Power Source’.
‘400 MT & 220 MT Press Brakes’, ‘6 m & 3.1 m in Length’, respectively manufactured by ‘Darley, Netherlands’ & ‘Ermaksan’.
‘BIS’ is also well equipped with ‘MIG & TIG Welding Machines, 3G & 4G Qualified welders, Grinders, M1TR, HMT Radial Drill Machine, etc.’ to carry out the various ‘Fabrication Operations’ as per customer’s ‘GA (General Arrangement.) Drawings’.
The perpetual motive of ‘BIS’ was not just to supply steel, but also to provide end to end user centric services, solutions & end-products, all under one roof.
Thus by getting in to ‘Steel-Manufacturing’, ‘BIS’ made it’s way towards tying up with giant multi-national-companies (i.e., L&T Defense, Hydra India, Schwing & DRDO, etc..), which led to formation of a strong & loyal customer base of ‘900+ customers’ for ‘BIS’, also for ‘MSQ-Services’.
Currently ‘BIS’, is one of the largest supplier and manufacturers of ‘Processed Steel’, operating across the geographies, supplying & catering to most of the important industries (i.e., Automobile, Engineering, Boilers, White Goods, Construction & Infrastructure, Sheet Metal Fabrications and EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction.) Projects (i.e., Oil & Gas Refineries, Steel, Cement, Power, Fertilizers, Sugar & other allied industries, etc..), etc..), scoring a revenue of more than ‘125+ Crores’, through it’s dedicated & energetic ‘100+ team-members’, to make ‘BIS’ achieve the desired zenith, beyond expectations.
