Breakdowns build up business for The Automobile Association. Best known as the AA, the firm provides a variety of motoring services for some 15 million members in the UK, including roadside breakdown repair, driving lessons, inspections and car servicing. It has added auto insurance and financing to its list of products and services as well. One product separating AA from other motoring services competitors, such as Green Flag and RAC, is its satellite technology used to find the quickest route to a breakdown. The AA boasts that it rescued 1-in-10 drivers in 2008. In September 2007 AA merged with Saga Group Limited (owned by Charterhouse Capital Partners) under holding company Acromas.
