Job Description

SUMMARY:

  • The National Medical Manager provides medical expertise support to the Companion Animal Business Unit, customers, external stakeholders in India. This is a people manager role. Field Medical Managers will report to the National Medical Manager. The candidate needs to ensure Zoetis scientific resources and technical activities deliver value to our customers, giving Zoetis a major differentiated edge, creating significant competitive advantage. National Medical manager is expected to evolve as a subject matter expert for Vets, KOLs, Veterinary Associations, Veterinary colleges, and Regulatory authorities
  • The person in role will work in close collaboration with Field Medical Managers. They support and enable the sales team to provide scientific and technical support to our customers on the health, diagnostics and disease control of their animals.
  • The National Medical Manager will also support the marketing team with medical support for strategy development for the CA portfolio of products and services.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy and Planning

  • Develop Medical strategy for Companion Animal BU for established and emerging therapy areas. Plan, develop and implement and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) management plans in line with current product priorities, future product development and launches. Support field medical colleagues in executing the medical strategy.
  • Contribute to the strategic plans made by the Companion Animal Business Unit. Provide advisory input on comprehensive knowledge of customers and markets. Partner with commercial teams/Business Unit Director in advance for medical insights and guidance for new product launches
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of value-added service activities such as therapy area based medical education and awareness, scientific meetings and discussions, congress presentations, product experience trials and documentation.
  • Translate medical strategy into tactical delivery areas for Vet education and advocacy building for Zoetis.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the market, industry trends and competition. Interpret the effects and opportunities that exist with our portfolio of products and services
  • Maintain an overview of the account plans across the business unit, applying a strategic and technical view
  • Plan frequent field visits with FMMs & Field colleagues.
  • Play an active role and provide veterinary insight at all necessary company meetings, events and training. Set the expectation with team of FMMs to do the same.
  • Act as the lead technical representative on all necessary projects

Customer Activities

  • Provide high level technical support and consultancy to customers
  • Undertake leadership activities that enable the team to be productive and effective; coach, monitor, feedback, train and support
  • Monitor KPIs to drive the required coverage and frequency with identified target customers and deliver consequent growth
  • Support in delivering strategic messages and marketing programs to the field force that fit into the context of the Solution Selling model

Business Unit Support & Relationships

  • Support marketing teams & contribute as technical expert in Brand teams if required
  • Work closely with L&D on the delivery of high quality technical training content for Field Force
  • Work with the Pharmacovigilance (PV) and regulatory team to ensure PV related situations are communicated across all team members as well as supporting the PV team when required
  • Contribute to the success of the business unit by role modelling best practice with colleagues, proactively welcoming ideas, sharing successes and enabling the team to do the same across the business
  • Provide guidance and direction to Field Technical managers on business strategy, delivery of targets, people management and day to day operations

Compliance & Pharmacovigilance

  • Maintain high standards of business conduct and compliance, adhering particularly to Pharmacovigilance Policy, Global Vet Policy, Zoetis values, travel & expenses policy and local codes of practice
  • Ensure the proper conduct of clinical activities and scientific information dissemination
  • Ensure the recording of accurate business records. Communicate effectively, sharing account information with other stakeholders.

Regulatory Support

  • National Medical Manager will support regulatory team in new product filings with medical inputs and to address queries from regulators

Education:

  • Master s degree in veterinary medicine is required, PhD is preferred
  • Current passport
  • IT literate. Able to use standard business software and communication tools , presentation skills

Experience:

- Experience of minimum 10 years experience in corporate animal health industry is desirable

- Experience of conducting clinical trials and evaluating scientific publications

- Experience of Presentation to larger group of industry KOLs / industry meetings

Language: Good verbal and written English. Knowledge of multiple local languages will be an added advantage.

Travel Requirements:

  • Regular monthly travel within India
