Deputy Manger - Data Center (Electrical)

Role & responsibilities

This position involves working within the MEP Design & Engineering Team at XS CADs Global Delivery Centre in Andheri, Mumbai. The team consists of skilled professionals, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers with varied experience. The deputy manager would play a crucial role in the planning, designing and development of electrical systems for large-scale data centers. This position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that electrical designs meet operational needs, safety standards and regulatory requirement

This role will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience in the design and implementation of electrical systems specifically for data center environments. Role involves setting up a team to manage Data Centre projects within XS CAD

• Reporting to the Senior Manager of MEP Design & Engineering team.
• Design and develop electrical systems for data centers, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, and HVAC integration
• Lead and manage electrical design projects from initial briefing and concept development through to construction and final delivery
• Provide expert knowledge on electrical engineering principles, practices, and technologies applicable to data center operations, including high-density power loads, UPS systems, and generator integration
• Prepare and maintain project schedules, budgets and resource allocation plans, ensuring timely delivery of milestones
• Conduct load calculations and modelling to optimize electrical systems' performance and efficiency
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on electrical design-related matters, ensuring their needs and expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle
• Mentor junior engineers and modelers, providing guidance and support in electrical design techniques and career development
• Prepare and review electrical design documentation, including calculations, specifications, and performance reports, ensuring clarity and accuracy
• Prepare detailed technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for electrical systems
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure a cohesive approach to the design and execution of data center projects
• Review and analyse project plans, layouts, and specifications to identify potential issues and recommend solutions
• Engage with clients to understand their requirements, provide technical guidance, and present design solutions
• Participate in project meetings and provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases
• Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful delivery of electrical components within scope and schedule

Preferred candidate profile

• BE/BTech/ME/MTech degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field
• Minimum 6 years of experience design, particularly in data center or critical infrastructure projects
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, SKM)
• Experience working on UK/Australia/Middle East projects
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a diverse team
