TECHNICAL

• Knows how to perform complex engineering analyses and develop complex deliverables within discipline.
• Applies standard engineering work planning, scheduling, and cost estimating
• Understands standard contract requirements and scope as they relate to discipline work
• Knows technical issues related to discipline and how to discuss with third parties (customer, suppliers, and regulators)
• Knows how to coordinate technical issues within discipline, with other disciplines, and with engineering staff
• Understands roles played by other departments on projects
• Familiar with methods of procurement, including bid and evaluation process
• Knows electrical equipment and material
• Knowledgeable in the overall work requirements outside of the discipline.
• Experienced with leading a group of engineers and/or designers within the discipline

• Familiar with all WSP design guides and standards relevant to discipline

• Capable of analyzing and understanding Client’s requirements and standards.

Key Competencies / Skills

• Reviews and leads the production of higher-tier Drawings, Reports and Calculations for all primary engineering tasks/deliverables
• Reviews Single Line diagrams for the HV Power system
• Reviews specifications/data sheets for main power electrical equipment in the substations (AIS, GIS & hybrid)
• Performs/Reviews Earthing System calculation.
• Performs/Reviews Lightning Protection calculation.
• Reviews different substation layouts
• Performs/Reviews AIS Bus Bar sizing Calculations taking into consideration Ampacity, Short Circuit Forces, Thermal effect of Short Circuit
• Understanding the main concepts of OHL (Sag and Tension, sizing, components used for design, surge arresters, civil aspects …etc.) is an added advantage.
• Conduct studies to ensure optimal performance and reliability of high voltage systems connected to the grid, with support of software tools, (i.e. DIGSilent-Power Factory), and to verify the compliance of the system with grid code (P-Q capability curve analysis, frequency and power factor behavior) is an added advantage.
• Leads technical discussions with customer and supplier

• Reviews and coordinates documents from other disciplines, customer and outside agencies
• Coordinates reviews with other disciplines and departments
• Capability of activities management and milestones based on scope of work description
• Capability of presenting the results to different parties and highlighting the key issues to the Client/WSP

Qualifications

• Recognized degree in engineering or technical field from an accredited college or university and specialized courses in Electrical discipline plus applicable practical work experience. Minimum, Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 8 to 14 years of experience in Electrical Engineering
